Oy - I'm beat. After flying back from Cleveland on Monday, I headed to Vegas on Tuesday for a quickie trade show visit and then I flew back tonight. I did pack some workout gear but who I was kidding - I was way too tired just from getting around Vegas! I spent probably an hour between the two days just waiting in line for taxis and let's not forget the conference itself! All the walking from the hotel to the convention center and then just walking around the conference itself - not too mention that I was wearing my "business duds", i.e. not so comfortable shoes.
So my whole body feels sore - even though I haven't technically worked out since Sunday. (Speaking of which, I got to experience all the heat and humidity everyone else has been suffering through when I went running in OH. My 9 mile run got shortened to 5 miles.)
On a fun note, I won around $60 on the slot machines. That's exciting for me since I'm not much of a gambler.

Update from Ohio
I'm spending the weekend in my hometown of Ohio - we celebrated my nephew's first birthday today!
And of course, it was nice to spend Father's Day with my dad even though he was a bit overshadowed by the main star of our family.
In running news, I just completed my first two weeks of the FIRST training plan in preparation for the San Jose Rock n Roll half marathon. It's my first time trying this out and so far, so good. Of course, my plan is slightly modified but I like incorporating the speed workouts into my training plan. Normally, I only follow a plan to determine the distance for the long runs and then just do 2-3 shorter runs during the week with some cross training. But it's cool to now have some structure to the weekday runs as well. And surprise, surprise, I actually really enjoy the track workouts for interval training!
Will post more later this week but need to get ready for my early flight tomorrow. I fly back to Cali Monday and then head back out on Tuesday for a quick work trip to Vegas.

*sigh* I'm 0 for 2 in marathon lotteries
First Nike. Now the NYC marathon. I came home from the gym tonight to discover that once again, I was not selected in the lottery. *sigh*
I'll admit it, I'm pretty bummed. The thing is - I actually didn't even want to do a marathon this year. After doing three marathons over a period of four months, I was BURNED. OUT. I wanted to take the year off just to do some fun, shorter races and focus on the half marathons in the fall (currently signed up for Disneyland Half and San Jose RnR, thinking about Big Sur as well).
I *heart* NY. I played there almost every weekend during my two year stint in Hoboken, NJ. So I started thinking about the NYC marathon and I thought, what the heck - if I get it, SWEET! If I don't, then I'll go back to my original plan. And then I forgot about it. But today Laura reminded me of the lottery and all of a sudden, I became really hopeful, excited, nervous, etc. I felt like I was back in high school waiting to hear if I got into my dream school, or in college waiting for my first job offer. ANYWAY - during work, I kept checking the website over and over again to see if the results were posted. I'm just glad that I went to the gym after work instead of going home to hit Refresh all night.
The one bright thing I can say is that at least I'm in for 2011. So yay for that! And I kicked off my half marathon training plan this week, more on that later...
Congrats to those that did make it in! Yes, I'm jealous but still happy for those lucky dogs...
